Lithuania has revealed plans to build a 30 -mile (about 48 kilometers) wide defense zone at the border with Russia and Belarus, which will include mines and bridges ready to blow up in the event of an invasion. The plans are part of a joint initiative of the Baltic countries to strengthen defense, amid rising aggression by Russia and its allies, as reported by the Daily Mail and Times. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, along with Poland, reinforce their borders, adding obstacles and fortifications beyond the fences. All four countries are also looking for EU funding. When completed, the “Wall of Defense” of the Baltic countries, designed by last year, will extend to more than 940 miles (about 1500 kilometers) and will limit Russia’s ability to launch attacks by its territory.
