Lloyds Auctions has added the ability to buy real estate with bitcoins

Earlier this year, Australian auction house Lloyds Auctions added the ability to buy real estate and other goods with Bitcoin, which generated a lot of interest among bidders.

Within hours of the launch of the new payment method, Lloyds Auctions sold a trailer worth AU $ 100,000 ($ 76,000) for Bitcoin.

Lee Hames, chief engineer at Lloyds Auctions, believes cryptocurrencies are gaining more trust in society and expanding the market. “This opens up our auction house to a new audience that would otherwise not even be interested in buying a property.”

He also believes this approach will fuel the company’s growth as auction houses are offering more and more cryptocurrencies such as art, classic cars and diamonds.

A few days ago, Sotheby’s announced that it would accept cryptocurrency at an upcoming auction, which featured a 101.38-carat diamond. The gem was sold for 95.1 million Hong Kong dollars ($ 12.3 million) in cryptocurrency. This stone has become the most expensive physical object traded for cryptocurrency.

The highest price for real estate sold for cryptocurrency was recorded in June. An anonymous buyer paid $ 22.5 million in crypto for real estate in Miami. This purchase broke the city’s record for the highest price per square foot of housing.

The auction house Car For Coin has launched a website offering luxury cars from Tesla to Lamborghini for Bitcoin. The buyer can pay for the car with both cryptocurrency and fiat currency.

British auction house Phillips has announced that it will accept payment in ether and bitcoin at an upcoming auction for artist Banksy’s Laugh Now Panel A, which is estimated at between $ 2.8 and $ 4.1 million.
