After last year’s digital ceremony, the event for the annual Lloyd’s List Greek Shipping Awards 2021 was held again with a physical presence, in which the top representatives of the Greek shipping were distinguished.
The head of Costamare, Kostis Konstantakopoulos, won the award for the Personality of Greek Shipping, a distinction won by Anna Angelikoussi last year. Costamare stood out this year for its impressive opening in the bulk dry cargo transportation market, but also the first bond of the Greek shipping, through the Athens Stock Exchange.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Nikos Vafeias, while that of Newsmaker of the Year was given to Aristides Pittas, who directs the listed Euroseas and Eurodry. A Euroseas containership received an impressive $ 200,000 a day during the year.
Seanergy Maritime, of interest to Stamatis Tsantanis, was declared the leading dry bulk transport company. The listed company implemented several fleet expansion investments. The corresponding award for tankers was received by the Arcadia Shipmanagement of the Angelopoulos brothers.
The distinction in the category for the Passenger Company of the year was received by Alpha Lines of Antonis Agapitos, which launches on the line Piraeus, Poros, Hydra, Spetses the ship Speed Cat I.
International Personality of the Year was Gianluigi Aponte, head of the Italian-Swiss Mediterranean Shipping Company, which is one of the leading shipping lines internationally.
Finally, among the awards that stood out was the one for the top ship of the year, which was awarded to Dynagas by George Prokopios for “Transgas Power”. It is one of the two newly launched steamships recently received by the shipping company, which can operate as both LNG carriers and FSRU units.
