Today began the largest investigation of the last decades for the so-called “Loch Ness monster,” also known as “Nessie,” according to the BBC.
Drones equipped with infrared cameras hover over the lake and a hydrophone will be used to detect unusual underwater sounds.

The investigation will be completed as scheduled tomorrow. The Loch Ness Center in Drumnadrochit and a volunteer research group called Loch Ness Exploration are organizing the effort.
It is said to be the biggest search for the monster since the Loch Ness Research Bureau studied the lake in 1972.

Nearly 300 people have registered to watch the weekend’s investigation live.
