Despite being a newborn program, with less than two years of life, it is extraordinary how LOL – Who laughs is out, the only original production of Amazon Prime Video to have really made it through in Italy thanks to the resources allocated to the (super) cast and to a simple and replicable formula, has generated such a high number of catchphrases: from the Barbie Tris di Primi by Katia Follesa to the tube with built-in hum by Frank Matano; from the Mignottone Pazzo by Michela Giraud to the mythological Posaman costume by Lillo kept inside a glass case as if it were Lady Diana’s revenge dress. With these premises, it was inevitable that the attention of the public and critics would focus on this new season and, at least judging by the first four episodes available on the platform, we can say that LOL 2 not only pays off expectations, but also exceeds them.
LOL 2
GRM PHOTO / RASERO GUBERTIThe credit, needless to say, is therechosen by a cast that, even more than the first edition, is extremely willing to get involved by exploiting all that comic range capable of intercepting the laughter of the spectators from home. There is something for everyone: the ease with which Corrado Guzzanti modifies the voice adapting it to the regiment of his characters; the slaps that Virginia Raffaele throws in the face in order not to laugh; the impromptu comedy of the Mago Forest who, together with Max Angioni, has created a duo that we would highly recommend to deepen later with a show of their own; the brilliant ideas of Maria Di Biase and the always ready joke of Maccio Capatonda who, at least for the moment, seems to be the real star of this edition of LOL together with Forest. A little more subdued, however, Tess Masazza, who has chosen to keep a low profile; Diana Del Bufalo, who could get involved more, and Gianmarco Pozzoli, linked to a more thoughtful comedy than that of his wife Alice Mangione.
LOL 2
GRM PHOTO / RASERO GUBERTIThe result is a LOL all to laugh and enjoy, perfect for spending a couple of hours in total relaxation enjoying the thought of being able to smile at the gags that participants are forced to watch without being able to move a muscle. To embellish the whole is the double run by Fedez and Frank Matano, two matadors who have such a loud laugh as to constitute a separate piece of cabaret. LOLin short, remaining faithful to himself by raising the bar of the cast more and more – if the generalist TV could afford the resources hosted by Prime Video it is very likely that in Sanremo next year we would find Kamala Harris with a private jet that left directly from the White House – and the formula, which has now become recognizable and identifiable. To find out the winner we will have to wait until March 3, therefore we advise you to catch up immediately because, never as in this case, the risk of spoilers is higher than that of Game of Thrones. LOL – Whoever laughs is out is produced in Italy for Amazon Studios by Endemol Shine Italy.
