Lollapalooza announces special concert in honor of Taylor Hawkins

The organization of the Lollapalooza Brasil festival announced that a special show will be held this Sunday (27), in São Paulo, in honor of musician Taylor Hawkins, drummer of the band Foo Fighters who died last Friday (25).

The special presentation will take place at 8:30 pm, when the Foo Fighters show was scheduled. The band announced this Saturday (26) that they canceled the entire South American tour, including the exhibition of Lollapalooza Brasil 2022.

The tribute to Foo Fighters will be led by rapper Emicida and the band Planet Hemp. They will receive names like DJ Nyack, DJ KL Jay, Criolo, Bivolt, Drik Barbosa and Rael. The organization says that next “there will be a special tribute to the musician”, but did not detail the activities.

Hawkins’ death was announced by the band in the early hours of Saturday. The rock group was in Colombia, where they would perform at the Estéreo Picnic festival.

A statement from the Bogotá Department of Health said an ambulance was sent to the hotel where the band was staying after an emergency call reported that a man was experiencing chest pain. “Hawkins did not respond to CPR [sigla para reanimação cardiopulmonar] and was pronounced dead,” the department’s report said.
