Sam Smith celebrated this Sunday (24) ten years since the release of his first album “In The Lonely Hour”, during his show on the last day of the festival Lollapalooza Brazil .
The artist celebrated the date and cried when singing “Good Thing”, that had not been presented before on the “Gloria: The Blackout” tour.
“This is the first time in my career that I’ve celebrated the ten-year anniversary of something,” said the British singer.
During the performance, Sam wore a long black dress with a pair of Vivienne Westwood earrings, made by designer Andreas Kronthaler. At another point in the show, just like Jared Leto did on Saturday (23), Sam Smith wore a Brazilian team shirt.
The singer said he was surprised by the number of people who filled the entire Samsung stage hill to watch his performance this Sunday.
“I can't believe how many people are here right now. I love you so much”, said the singer.
In the middle of the first part of the show, Sam Smith explained that the tour for his latest album was designed as a manifesto in defense of freedom.
“This show is about freedom. The freedom to wear whatever clothes you want, to be whoever you want to be,” she declared.
From slow ballads to dance floors
Opening the presentation with his biggest hits, “Stay With Me” and “I'm Not The Only One”, the British singer presented a list of hits that covered his most danceable eras, such as “Dancing With A Stranger” and “Unholy ”.
Sam was accompanied by the beating of fans brought to the show by the audience.
“There’s nothing better for a broken heart than a good pop song”, said the artist, who welcomed Jessie Reyes on stage for a duet on “Gimme”.
The singer performed on Saturday afternoon (23) on the Budweiser stage at Lollapalooza Brasil.
The 2015 Grammy winner for New Artist had already come to Brazil to sing at Rock in Rio and returned in 2018 for that year's Lollapalooza.
