London accuses Moscow of seeking ‘pretexts for invasion’

British Foreign Secretary Liz Tras today accused Moscow of seeking “pretexts for an invasion of Ukraine”.

“Information about Ukraine’s unusual military activity in Donbas is a blatant attempt by the Russian government to fabricate pretexts for an invasion,” Tras, who is due to meet with Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba in Kiev today, wrote on Twitter.

She also expressed “grave concern over current information showing an intensification of the Russian attack: more than 7,000 additional troops at the border and an attack on a kindergarten by pro-Russian troops.”

“The United Kingdom is calling on Russia to withdraw its troops, there is still time for diplomacy and de-escalation,” she said.
