As soon as the New York fashion shows have finished, London Fashion Week is preparing to open its doors, with a calendar full of fashion shows, presentations, and much more. The most awaited moment of the season Fall/Winter 2023 in the English capital is undoubtedly the show of Burberry, with which Daniel Lee will make his debut as creative director of the brand: after leaving Bottega Veneta at the end of 2021, the British designer took over from Riccardo Tisci, ushering in a new era for Burberry with the campaign Night Creatureswhere the brand’s iconic knightly print has been revisited, as well as the logo.
The legendary designer who invented the punk aesthetic has died in London at the age of 81. Fashion loses a superb provocateur, a tireless rebel, a creative with an immeasurable talent, capable of marking an entire era and an entire society with her work \
Another event, or rather approach to the entire British fashion week, is the tribute to Vivienne Westwoodwho passed away last December: the British Fashion Council has in fact affirmed that the fashion week will focus «on the incredible legacy» of the woman who, with her work, not only changed the fashion industry and «gave life and defined punk, but also drove positive change globally.”
Among over 104 physical and 41 digital presentations from 17-21 February, London Fashion Week will also host the new edition of Moncler Genius, staged on February 20 at the Olympia with a “monumental event”: the protagonists of this year’s co-creations are a mix of creatives from pop culture, sport and even the automotive industry, such as Alicia Keys, Mercedes- Benz, Palm Angels, and Pharrell Williams, newly appointed artistic director of Louis Vuitton Menswear. In addition to the aforementioned collaborators, Moncler has invited Rick Owens to participate in the event, challenging «the possibilities of design beyond fashion, and presenting the Moncler + Rick Owens collection» .
But that’s not all, because the British Fashion Council has announced, beyond the fashion events, a real party that will include the entire city: the City Wide Celebration in fact, it includes around 450 eventstotally free and open to the public, during which the incredible creativity and innovation that has always characterized London will be celebrated and emphasized, with immersive experiences and artistic exhibitions.
Among the big names in the program of fashion shows we find JW Anderson, Christopher Kane, Erdem, Molly Goddard and Simone Rochabut there is no shortage of emerging talents: among these there is also Steven Stokey-Daleywinner of the LVMH Prize for Young Designers, as well as signature of the look sported by Harry Styles at the Brit Awards 2023.
