A 12-year-old boy from London raised £ 290,000 from the sale of the NFT Weird Whales series he created during his school holidays.
In an interview with Geo.tv, Benyamin Ahmed said he is delighted to be “the youngest programmer in the world to make so much money online without a bank account.” Twelve-year-old Benjamin’s work caught the attention of the Twitter community and eventually went viral.
“I only had a few Twitter followers. Fortunately, a user with a large number of subscribers retweeted my post and today I have over 1,200,000 subscribers – from the BBC to the New York Post and Geo News – all reading my news, ”Benjamin said.
Benjamin spent his school holidays well – he created and tokenized digital whale emojis called Weird Whales, which he then sold in NFT form. The boy had previously tokenized a collection of Minecraft-style digital artwork that he could not sell on the NFT market due to low popularity.
The boy’s father, Imran Ahmed, taught Benjamin and his brother programming from the age of six. Imran said:
“Benjamin is very creative, he has no bank account and no accountant, so he keeps his money on the blockchain.”
The boy explained that the £ 290,000 profit generated from the sales of NFT has been converted to ETH despite the current market volatility.
“I am aware of the volatility of this market, but this is our future and it is not going anywhere.”
Recall that this week the scammer advertised a fake Banksy NFT on the artist’s official website, sold a non-fungible token on the OpenSea market for $ 338,000, and then returned almost all the money to the buyer.
