The UK’s Brexit minister, David Frost, is expected to tell European Commission Vice-President Maros Sefsovic today that London intends to continue the effort to reach a bilateral agreement on the so-called Northern Ireland Protocol and will hold talks with the in the coming weeks, writes The Times today.
Citing unnamed sources, the paper says (1) that although the Boris Johnson government continues to have some reservations about the Commission’s proposal to reduce controls on goods moving between Britain and Northern Ireland, Mr. Frost is going to stress to Mr. Sefsovic that with some modifications, it could be the basis for a new bilateral agreement.
