Long holidays and Marathon help Rio’s hotels reach 95% occupancy

In Rio de Janeiro, 95% of the hotel network is already occupied, this Friday (12), according to a survey by the Brazilian Association of the Hotel Industry of Rio de Janeiro (ABIH-RJ). This is the best extended holiday scenario of 2021 for the Rio hotel chain.

In addition to the weekend, the Rio Marathon and Half Marathon, scheduled for November 14th and 15th, helped to increase demand for Rio.

Some hotels have confirmed that the increase has reached almost 50% due to the two competitions. Notably, the hotels in the central region, Flamengo and Botafogo, in the south zone, appeared with quite high percentages when compared to other weekends. In the case of the Center, this increase in demand was even greater, as it is closer to the circuit and has cheaper rates.

Altogether, there are 20,114 athletes registered for the events, 101 (0.5%) of which are foreigners, 6,470 (32%) are from outside the state of Rio de Janeiro and 13,543 (67%) are from Rio de Janeiro.

ABIH-RJ also registered high demand in other regions due to the holiday. Among them, the following stand out: Ipanema and Leblon (97.17%), Centro (95.53%), Flamengo and Botafogo (94.77%), Barra da Tijuca and São Conrado (94.26%), and Leme and Copacabana (94.10%).

Tom Jobim International Airport expects a movement of more than 77 thousand passengers during the holiday. Between November 12th and 16th, a total of 520 flights are planned.

Rodoviária do Rio estimates that 156,000 people must pass through the terminal between this Friday (12) and Tuesday (16), including boarding and disembarking.

The Niterói-Manilha Highway, much used by those traveling to the Lagos Region, estimates that 353,000 vehicles will pass along the highway, between Niterói and Campos dos Goytacazes, during this holiday.

CCR NovaDutra, the connecting highway between Rio de São Paulo, estimates that 918,000 vehicles will pass through the highway on the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th.
