Actress Kirstie Alley has died aged 71 after a battle with cancer. The news was reported by her children True and Lillie Parker on their social networks.
“We are saddened to report that our amazing, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with recently discovered cancer,” the statement reads.
She was best known for her roles in “Look Who’s Talking” and “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan”. The actress also acted in the celebrated series “Cheers”.
According to the statement, Kirstie died in the care of her family. “She was surrounded by her closest family and fought mightily, leaving us assured of her never-ending joy of life and whatever adventures lie ahead,” reads the text. “As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more incredible mother and grandmother.”
Actor John Travolta, who starred with Alley in 1989’s “Look Who’s Talking” and also in the 1992 sequel, wrote on social media: “Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had. I love you, Kirstie. I know we will see each other again.”
