Looks like Google canceled Pixel 5a due to component shortage

Google has refused to release the Pixel 5a smartphone. It was supposed to be presented at the Google I / O developer conference in May this year along with the available Pixel Buds A wireless earbuds, but a global component shortage seems to have passed judgment on the upcoming new product. Insider Jon Prosser was the first to report this, and this information has been confirmed twice to Android Central.

Unfortunately, the global shortage of semiconductor products is creating more and more problems for smartphone manufacturers. This situation has affected even such large companies as Samsung, which canceled the release of the next Galaxy Note smartphone this year, as well as Apple, which has postponed the production of some MacBook and iPad models.

Google Pixel 5a was supposed to be one of the best mid-budget Android smartphones this year. According to sources, the company will continue to promote the largely successful Pixel 4a and its 5G version. And that probably makes sense, as the Pixel 5a was rumored to be getting the exact same equipment. Now we have to wait for the fall when Google will introduce the next generation “pixel”.

One more point cannot be ruled out. Recently, information appeared on the Internet that Google is working on its own processor, which will be presented along with the flagship smartphone Pixel 6. The company probably wants to invest all its resources in it and not waste them on the Pixel 5a.
