At least 10,000 properties have been damaged by the fires — and hundreds more are likely to be identified in the coming days, according to Los Angeles County Assessor Jeff Prang.
“Financial problems will become a major problem for fire victims,” Prang declared this Friday (10).
He added that residents who suffered more than $10,000 in damage to their property may qualify for property tax relief under the state’s “misfortune and calamity” program.
“It seems clear that we will need legislative help to ensure maximum benefits for victims,” Prang added.
He urged affected residents to contact his office for free services and assistance in filing claims due to the bushfires.
