Los Angeles police break up pro-Palestinian encampment at University of Southern California

Los Angeles police removed a pro-Palestinian encampment that had been set up at the University of Southern California (USC) on Sunday without making any arrests, amid uproar on American campuses over the Israel-Hamas war. The crackdown at USC followed a chaotic day on Saturday, when dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested at various US universities. Police entered the camp at USC at approximately 05:00 am (local time, 15:00 Greek time) and, in cooperation with the university's Public Safety service, removed the tents that had been set up, while dozens of students left the scene peacefully. USC Chancellor Carol Folt said in a statement that “the occupation had taken a dangerous course over the past few days,” prompting her to call for police intervention.
