An employee at a lottery house in Taguatinga (DF) is suspected of having stolen a winning ticket that belonged to a customer. The case occurred last week.
According to the Civil Police of the Federal District, the victim arrived at the location to withdraw his winning ticket from Mega-Sena in the amount of R$ 34,367.81 when she was informed by the attendant that there was no prize.
Later, the winner identified that the ticket was a winner and returned to the lottery. The owner of the lottery shop checked security camera footage and saw the moment when the employee took the winning ticket from the trash and kept it with her.
When confronted, the woman justified her actions by claiming that she was having financial difficulties and that, because of this, she intended to appropriate the prize.
The attendant was fired from the lottery for just cause and the victim is awaiting the legal procedures to receive her money next Friday (24). Furthermore, a police investigation was launched with the aim of determining who was responsible.
In a note, the lottery emphasizes that this was an isolated case and that all appropriate measures were taken. The establishment states that it is strengthening its internal controls to prevent this from happening again.
