Louis and Marie Ducruet are expecting their second daughter: the royal family of Monaco is expanding

Louis and Marie Ducruet are preparing forarrival of their second daughter. On Instagram, the future mother posted some family photos, commenting: “Soon there will be five of us.” The sequence of images begins with a photo of her and her husband Louis, who gently places his hands on her baby bump. It’s also there in the second image their firstborn, Victoireand in the third photo also appears the dog Pancake, the fourth member of the Monegasque family, from whom Louis and Marie are never separated and who they call “our son”.

The couple announced their new pregnancy at the beginning of the year and, a few months later, posted the photo of gender reveal party, in which Victoire wore a baby pink cardigan with the words “big sister” written on it, while Pancake wore a bandana that read: “Oh no, not again!”.

In April 2023, Louis and Marie Ducruet became parents for the first time. It was a new chapter in their life as a couple, which they faced together with great complicity. In an interview with Monaco InfoMarie had confided: «I’m lucky to have Louis, who is a very present dad. I think our generation, in general, is really lucky. There is a 50/50 split of duties. When he sees that I’m tired, he doesn’t hesitate for a second to intervene, and the same goes for me. There’s a real balance, and I know I’m lucky for that.”

Louis Ducruet has no noble titles, even though he is the son of Princess Stéphanie of Monaco (born from her marriage to former bodyguard Daniel Ducruet) and nephew of Rainier III, as well as fifteenth in the line of succession to the Monegasque throne.

But, at the beginning of his relationship with Marie Chevallier, he had hidden his noble birth from his girlfriend: «I didn’t want my ties with the royal family to influence our relationship», he revealed to the Munich Gazette. «I told her the truth after a while, and the way she looked at me didn’t change. Which proves the sincerity of our love.”

Louis and Marie are met in a nightclub in Canneslater discovering that they were classmates at a nearby college. To complete their degrees in Business and Marketing, they then transferred to Western Carolina University together, spending two years on the remote Cullowhee campus before graduating in 2015.

The wedding proposal arrived in February 2018, on a beach in Vietnam. «I wanted this moment to be perfect and unique. It was very important to me that the place had meaning,” Louis explained.

On the last weekend of July 2019, Louis and Marie got marriedfirst in a civil (and private) form, then in the cathedral of Monaco. The same church where Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly said “I do” to each other in April 1956. Two hundred guests, lots of emotion (especially that of mother Stéphanie, who couldn’t hold back her tears).

Immediately after the wedding, Louis had confided to the British tabloid Gala That he and Marie wanted to start a large family. And the dream is coming true.
