Data from the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) indicate that, in February of this year, only 830,000 young people had voter registration, lowest number in history for Brazilians aged between 16 and 17 years. In 2020, 23% of people in this age group were eligible to vote. Now, in 2022, the total has dropped to 13%.
During the Young Voters Week, promoted by the TSE between March 14th and 18th, the numbers changed a little, since almost 100 thousand new documents were issued. The campaign had the voluntary participation of numerous artists and celebrities, such as Anitta and Zeca Pagodinho.
