THE panel by L. S. Lowry “Going to the Match” (Going to the Race) of 1953, which is estimated to be worth Rs 5 to 8 million British pounds ($5.7 million to $9.25 million) will be exhibited in Dubai, before being sold to auction next month.
The painting, from a collection of paintings created by the English painter on the theme of sport in industrial towns in the north of England, will be sold by Christie’s house to auction works of modern British and Irish art.

The ‘Going to the Match’ board depicts the working man in action, capturing the universal appeal of football. Is a city scene, a large crowd heading to a soccer field.
