“Luca”, the first trailer of the new Pixar film (“set” in Italy)

The trailer for Luca, just released by Pixar, is the photograph of a happy summer, of the freedom that every village kid can caress, unaware or regardless of how the eyes of its inhabitants observe it. There are motorbike rides, in Luca. The dives in the sea, the desire to bite into life, an Italian summer set among nameless houses, whose colors, spots on narrow alleys, recall Portofino, Santa Margherita, the squares of the Ligurian Levant. Luca, directed by Oscar nominee Enrico Pink house and produced by Andrew Warren of Cars 3, is the chronicle of a happy, inevitable growth, stained, however, by the specter of diversity and the fear that is its daughter.

Luca, in trailer released by Pixar, has the appearance of a boy like many others, with tangled hair and sunburned skin. Her face is round, dotted with freckles. But upon contact with water, the small brown freckles disappear, engulfed by bluish scales. Luca’s legs become fins, his curly hair crests. And the vague memory of the apparently normal boy, identical to the other village children, remains. Because Luca, like his best friend, is a “sea creature”, whose existence seems incompatible with that of the Italian Riviera.

“This is a deeply personal story, not only because it is set on the Italian Riviera where I grew up, but because at the center of this film is the celebration of friendship. Childhood friendships often set the course of who we want to become and it is precisely those bonds that are at the center of our history in Luca. Thus, in addition to the beauty and charm of the Italian sea, our film will tell an unforgettable summer adventure that will radically change Luca », explained the director, Enrico Casarosa.
