Remodeling any room in the home involves a great expense. However, for a couple from North Yorkshire, in the United Kingdom, it turned out to be the best investment of their lives, because under the rubble they found a treasure with more than 200 gold coins.
It is estimated that the gold pieces have a value of 250 thousand pounds sterling, that is, more than 28 thousand dollars. The couple, whose identity is being kept secret for safety, will put the treasure up for auction.
According to CNN, the treasure was found in July 2019. While a couple were remodeling their kitchen floor, they found a cup containing more than 260 gold coins, dating from 1610 to 1727.
The auction house Spink & Son, in the United Kingdom, through a statement, said that this is one of the treasures with the most English gold coins of the 18th century ever seen. In addition, he said that the coins belonged (almost certainly) to the Fernley-Maister family, made up of the married couple of Joseph and Sarah, who married in 1694.
It is a wonderful and truly unexpected discovery in such a little known place.
The treasure will be auctioned next October and is expected to fetch up to 300,000 pounds, around $340,000.
Although it is not known how the coins remained in that place, the lucky couple to find them thanks their ancestors for their savings and promise that the money obtained will be used for the remodeling of their house and the studies of their future children.
