Lukashenko: Suggests students pick potatoes for ‘good physical exercise’

THE Alexander Lukashenko speaking at a government meeting he said that the students they should collect potatoesif they want a “good physical exercise” and the way to make their parents “happy”.

“By what example will we then raise our students, our children?” he said, referring to this practice that followed during the USSR, according to AFP.

“They say this is exploitation. But what exploitation can it be if someone goes to work for five or six hours? It will be happiness for parents and good physical exercise for children,” Lukashenko said, believing it would “unite people.”

Lukashenko had recommended in 2020 the sauna, a glass of vodka a day and working with a tractor in the fields as effective medicines against the coronavirus.

Although not directly involved in the Russian invasion, Belarus in February allowed Russian troops to be deployed on its soil so that the border with Ukraine would be a staging post when the military operation began.
