Lukashenko warns of “nuclear escalation” against the background of Ukraine

The president of Belarus requested on Friday (31/3) to start “unconditional” talks between Moscow and Kiev Alexander Lukashenko while he called for a “truce” in Ukraine where the war. Otherwise, as he emphasized, “escalation” is coming and he stated that he “sees” “nuclear fires” on the horizon.

“We must stop now, before the escalation begins. I take the risk of proposing a cessation of hostilitiesLukashenko said during his address to the nation.

“It is possible – and must – to settle all territorial issues, reconstruction, security and other issues at the negotiating table without conditions,” he added, as reported by the Athens News Agency.

Its president Belarus and Moscow’s sole ally in Europe, also said that “Western support for Ukraine risks provoking nuclear war.”

“Because of the United States and its satellites, total war has been unleashed in Ukraine. Nuclear fires appear on the horizon,” he said.

Lukashenko also warned Ukraine not to launch a counterattack against the invading Russian forces, saying it would make negotiations impossible.

Emphasizing that “the military-industrial complex is in full operation in Russia” and that Ukraine is “flooded with Western weapons”, Lukashenko is “worried” about an imminent “escalation” with many dead.

Warning to Ukraine not to launch counterattack against Russian invading forces

Lukashenko also warned Ukraine not to launch a counterattack against the invading Russian forces, saying it would make negotiations impossible.

Belarus is not directly involved in the war in Ukraine, but has offered its territory to the Russian military for its offensive against Kiev and for attacks against Ukraine.

Moscow and Minsk have conducted joint exercises and created a joint military corps with soldiers from both countries.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced last weekend his intention to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, an announcement that caused concern in Ukraine and the West.

Moscow believes that the war can only be ended if Kiev gives up its claims and accept, above all, the annexation of five Ukrainian regions by Moscow.

For its part, Kiev sets as a condition for peace the withdrawal of Russian forces from its territory without exceptions.
