Former president Lula (PT) and ex-governor of São Paulo, Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB), are expected at a National Congress of Retirees from Força Sindical, in Mongaguá, on the coast of SP.
Geraldo Alckmin confirmed his presence for the 16th, for a lecture at 2 pm. Former President Lula will be at the event the following day, at 9 am.
The National Union of Retirees, Pensioners and Elderly (SINDNAPI), which brings together more than 300 thousand members, is part of the Força Sindical of Paulinho da Força, deputy and current national president of the Solidarity party.
The party is among those trying to attract Geraldo Alckmin with the promise of making the presidential ticket with Lula viable.
The answer to the invitation of Paulinho da Força, according to the party’s interlocutors, would have been left for January of next year. Despite admitting that Alckmin will only decide the new party close to the deadline for change, in April.
The Solidarity Bet is that the other parties that court Alckmin have greater difficulties.
Gilberto Kassab’s PSD opened doors for Alckmin to be the candidate of the party for the government of São Paulo. Kassab, however, admits that while the former governor is his priority, the name is not unique and he already has plan B for a running mate in the state.
Marcio França’s PSB would be another way out. But it finds resistance among some PT members. In SP, for example, Alckmin’s affiliation — with Lula for the ticket — would be conditioned on the withdrawal of former mayor Fernando Haddad (PT) in the dispute for the state.
