Lula and PT president again criticize Eletrobras privatization

The pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) and the national president of EN the federal deputy Gleisi Hoffmann again criticized this Saturday (11) the privatization of electrobras .

On social media, PT members argued that privatization will make electricity even more expensive for Brazilians.

“About 33 million Brazilians are starving. People are forced to choose between buying food or paying the electricity bill, which continues to rise. And what does the government do? Privatize Eletrobras, to increase the electricity bill even more”, wrote the former president.

With the capitalization process, the government will no longer be the largest shareholder of the company and will have 45% of the share capital – before, the Union had 72% of the company’s shares.

According to Lula, the federal government is selling the state-owned company “at a bargain price”. “Losing Petrobras is to increase the electricity bill even more, which today already weighs not only on the workers’ pockets, but also on the budget of the middle class”, he argued.

Gleisi was in the same line as the co-religionist. “The nefarious tactic of selling Eletrobras shares until the government lost control of the company was the lowest blow ever seen. The people are unemployed, in debt, without income, hungry and Bolsonaro and Guedes’ concern is with the market. This duo is the destruction of Brazil”, commented the federal deputy.

The parliamentarian also published a video saying that the sale of the company is a “crime against Brazil”. According to Gleisi, Brazil will lose its “protagonism” in the electricity sector and “will be in the hands of private companies”, increasing the cost of electricity bills.

“What is more serious is that the sale will be for a paltry value for what the company is worth. The amount does not cover even two years of parliamentary amendments with a secret budget”, compared Gleisi.
