The president of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, arrived in China in the early afternoon of Saturday (10) for a visit that will last two days.
Lula will meet in Beijing, Chinese capital, with President XI Jinping. The Brazilian leader will also attend the fourth meeting of the China-Celac Forum (Community of Latin American and Caribbean states), which takes place in the midst of the US government’s tariff crisis.
The Ministry of Extereiors also anticipated that the two leaders should deal with exports from Brazil to China and sign cooperation agreements in the areas of Industry, Energy, Mining, Science and Technology, Sustainable Development and Tourism.
It is also foreseen a joint statement between Lula and Xi, which is being negotiated and should mention topics on which the two countries converge – multilateralism, global governance reform and defense of peaceful solutions.
The relationship between Brazil and China is a strategic partnership that has been taking place since 1993 and the visit can seek to explore new aspects of cooperation between countries.
“What we want is to diversify our relationship, our exporting agenda to China and diversify investments and partnerships with China, seeking to attract it to this project of neo-industrialization, technological training, energy transition,” explained the secretary of Asia and Pacific, ambassador Eduardo Saboia.
Among the Brazilian authorities who must accompany the president, there are ministers, senators and deputies.
