President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) met on Wednesday (9), with Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum.
The meeting takes place, in Honduras, hours before the dome of heads of state of the community of Latin American and Caribbean states (Celac), a bloc that brings together 33 countries in the region.
“We talked about the economic conjuncture in Latin America and the Caribbean, and in the world,” Lula wrote on social networks.
“We have decided to further strengthen the relationships between our two countries promoting periodic agendas between our governments and the productive sectors of the Brazilian and Mexico industry,” he added.
Lula arrived on Tuesday night (8) to Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras. He was received by former president of the country Manuel Zelaya.

Celac’s leaders’ summit takes place on Wednesday (9). Presidents discuss global topics of common interest, focusing on the integration of the region.
According to Itamaraty, one of Brazil’s main bets will be the proposal of a Latin American single candidacy for the position of Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), which will be vacant next year.
Although not a rule, there is an informal turnover of turnover between continents for the vacancy, and Brazil understands that it would be Latin America’s turn to occupy the highest position of the agency.
Also according to Itamaraty, Lula should propose that the summit considers a woman for the position. Names such as the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, and former Chilean president Michelle Bachelet are quoted.
