“I met his sister and daughter, and I know the immense love his family had for him. My solidarity with Michel’s family and friends”, continued the president.
“Brazil will continue to fight, and we will remain engaged in efforts to have all hostages released, so that we can have a ceasefire and peace for the people of Israel and Palestine,” he concluded.
The information that Michel's body was recovered in Gaza was announced by Israeli Army spokesman, Daniel Hagari, in a statement this Friday morning.
“It is with regret that I share that last night Israeli special forces in Gaza rescued the bodies of our hostages Hanan Yablonka, Michel Nisenbaum and Orion Hernandez,” said Hagari, adding that the three were killed during Hamas attacks on October 7 .
“Michel, an Israeli and Brazilian citizen, was on his way to pick up his 4-year-old granddaughter. He was murdered by Hamas terrorists and his body was taken to Gaza”, added the spokesperson.
The bodies were located in the Jabalya region, in northern Gaza, where there has been a recent resumption of fighting between Israel and Hamas men.
The bodies were identified by medical authorities at Israel's National Forensic Institute and Israeli police, the military said.
