Lula travels to China between March 24 and 30, with Dilma and Haddad on the presidential plane

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s trip to China should take place between the 24th and 30th of March, according to sources at the Planalto Palace. On the presidential plane, former President Dilma Rousseff and Economy Minister Fernando Haddad should also board.

A CNN had already found out that Dilma will accompany Lula so that his appointment to the presidency of the Brics bank, a group of countries formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, is confirmed.

There is an expectation that among the topics addressed on the trip, Lula will talk to Chinese President Xi Jinping about the war in Ukraine. But sources close to the Chinese Communist Party told the CNN previously that Lula’s appeals for China’s entry into a group for peace in Ukraine “should go in one ear and out the other”.

The Chinese may even ask for the issue of war to be removed from the agenda during Lula’s visit to the country.

Sources linked to the Chinese government say that Lula may have better luck talking about hunger than war in Ukraine. Lula and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to talk about a global Brazil-China alliance against hunger and poverty, along the lines of China’s alliance with Africa.

On the part of the Chinese, there is interest in also approaching partnerships in the energy sector.

Analyst Caio Junqueira also found out that the Brazilian entourage must operate politically so that the Chinese buy the plant of the American company Ford in Camaçari, Bahia.

The idea is to present the benefits of the purchase to the Chinese, such as tax exemptions that the government of Bahia is studying to grant. For the Brazilian government, the consolidation of the business would be symbolic in several ways.
