Lula will hold meetings with governors of the Northeast on hunger, unemployment and security

The first appointment on the agenda of former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and former São Paulo governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) in the Northeast includes a closed-door meeting with the region’s nine governors in Natal, Rio Grande do Sul. From north. The campaign coordination confirmed to the CNN that Lula will discuss proposals for hunger, misery and poverty, in addition to listening to the experience of managers on public security plans.

At the meeting, governors should talk about the effects of the Acolhe Nordeste program, sponsored by the Northeast Consortium and which provides for the allocation of R$ 500 to children and adolescents orphaned by Covid-19 victims. They also intend to discuss ways to expand income transfer projects, such as Bolsa Família, but which include professional qualification of adults in the beneficiary family.

After lunch with the governors, the former president will visit a fair for family farmers, where he will discuss, with industry leaders, the stimulus to the production of healthy foods and the qualification for the use of modern technologies that increase productivity, in addition to signaling greater credit availability for category.

In his speech to farmers, Lula should comment on the global food crisis and point out what he considers the dismantling of the National Supply Company in the states. In Maceió (AL), PT has an agenda with a cultural sector in the morning and a public event in the evening, when it should signal the need to resume a housing program along the lines of Minha Casa, Minha Vida.

On the last visit of this tour to the Northeast, in Aracaju (SE), Lula should talk about employment with incentives to infrastructure, the resumption of unfinished works and partnerships between the public and private sectors.
