After Suburra, Baby, Summertime, Black Moon e Zero, Netflix continues to focus on original productions and decides to do so by returning to the glittering Rome of the Sixties. It will do it in Luna Park, the new series written by Isabella Aguilar, already behind the success of Baby, and directed by Leonardo D’Agostini and Anna Negri who will talk aboutfriendship between a young carousel and a girl from Rome well, in a mixture of completely unexpected secrets and loves. Produced together with Fandango and announced by the end of 2021, Luna Park, which will consist of 6 episodes, has the delicate objective of embracing multiple generations and offering a wonderful journey through time in a city at its peak.
The protagonist is called Nora Marini and will be played by Simona tabasco, which we all know not only thanks to Perez, the film by Edoardo De Angelis for which he won the Guglielmo Biraghi Award at the Nastri d’Argento in 2015, but above all for the role of Elisa Russo in the fiction DOC – In your hands; Tommaso Ragno will lend his face to his father, while Milvia Marigliano will play grandmother Mirande. The cast continues with Mario Sgueglia in the role of uncle Ettore; Ludovica Martino, former star of SHAME Italy, Under the Riccione sun e Carousel Carosone, in those of the mother Stella; Lia Grieco, engaged to Fulminacci for 4 years, in those of Rosa Gabrielli; Guglielmo Poggi in those of his brother Giggi; Paolo Calabresi in those of their father and Fabrizia Sacchi in those of their mother Lucia. To close the circle of Luna Park then there are all the interpreters of the Baldi family, made up of Lando (Michele Bevilacqua), Doriana (Lorenza Indovina), and their children Matteo (Edoardo Coen) and Simone (Alessio Lapice).
Beyond the social conflict of two families at the antipodes – that of the Marini, long-time carouselers, and that of the Gabrielli, belonging to the salons of Roma bene – Luna Park rides a trend, that of reality inside the marquees, which we will also see in Freaks Out by Gabriele Mainetti, always set in Rome but during the war. Expectations are high and we really hope they are well placed.
