Lupine lands on Netflix: a tribute to Fujiko and his supersexy style

Brace yourselves because the most beloved villain is about to return. And if there is no doubt that the character came out of the pen of Maurice Leblanc in 1905 is really a myth, it is also true that his fame is largely due to manga from 1967 designed by the Japanese artist Monkey Punch. Thus, various anime, television and film transpositions later, Arsenius Lupine is imprinted in the collective memory as the outlaw in a suit and tie capable of carrying out impossible thefts with the help of his adventure companions, Jigen and Goemon, without forgetting the beautiful Fujiko (Margot, in some episodes of the Italian version of the cartoon).

It was only a matter of time, then, before the streaming giant decided to create their own version of the gentleman thief.

The highly anticipated series, out theJanuary 8, is set in Paris and see Omar Sy |, famous for the 2011 feature film Almost friends, in the role of the charismatic protagonist who decides to develop a spectacular theft, to avenge the injustice suffered by his father at the hands of a rich family. The choice of the French actor, of Senegalese and Mauritanian origins, marks a turning point in the way the character, who has always had European traits, is represented. As if to say: everyone must be able to identify with the adventures of their heroes, regardless of skin color.

Cast aside, not much is known about the show yet. Impossible not to wonder if on the screen we will see the entire team of swindlers, including the unforgettable Fujiko. Thief too, ally or nemesis depending on the circumstances, has moved on to history for the abysmal necklines, the very short skirts and the knee-high boots. A true sex symbol, sometimes a victim of censorship for some judged episodes daring, which passes with ease from the evening dress to the leather suit by biker to escape the police aboard his motorcycle. A gritty look which betrays the era in which the manga version of Lupine III (the one we saw on TV here too, to understand) was drawn, that is the iconic Seventies.

Yet Fujiko’s style is cool even now since the psychedelic prints and XS tops have become the favorite uniform of it girl come Bella Hadid e Kendall Jenner. Which in the photos posted on Instagram seem to be inspired by the outfits of Lupin’s girlfriend, including minidresses and plunging necklines.

Waiting to find out what the new Netflix series has in store for us, you just have to look at the opening gallery to find out what Fujiko would wear in 2021. What is certain is that, now as then, it would certainly not go unnoticed.
