The Chinese state-owned automaker SAIC has announced a large minivan Roewe iMAX8 EV. The novelty is converted from a similar gasoline car and built on the same SAIC Intelligent Global Modular Architecture (SIGMA) platform. Perhaps partly because of this, the range of the minivan is small – 550 km (according to the CLTC cycle). It is due to the use of a traction battery with a capacity of 90 kWh. For a car with a length of more than five meters, its capacity is not so great. But it is reliably protected from dust and water in accordance with the degree of IP69K.
Externally and internally, the Roewe iMAX8 EV repeats the gasoline model, except that the radiator grille looks different. Inside, the minivan is luxuriously decorated: leather, electric side sliding doors, a panoramic sunroof over the heads of second-row passengers and separate seats for them. The instrument cluster uses a large screen, a 12.3-inch screen in landscape orientation is mounted on the front panel.
The Roewe iMAX8 EV is powered by a 245 hp electric motor and has a top speed of 180 km/h. Fast charging technology is supported – from 30 to 80 percent of the traction battery is charged in half an hour. The length of the minivan is 5016 mm, the wheelbase is 3000 mm, the curb weight is 2230-2360 kg, depending on the version.
Sales of new items will start very soon – May 5th. Interestingly, what is called an extremely low cost for an electric model, and even such dimensions and equipment: 28,600 – 34,300 dollars.
