Luxury St. Regis opens hotel suspended over mangroves in Riviera Maya

With more than 50 properties around the world, the luxury hotel chain St. Regis has just thickened its portfolio with the inauguration of a unit in Riviera Maya at the Mexico a region known for its beautiful beaches and archaeological sites.

Approximately 40 minutes from the airport cancun and about 10 minutes from playa del carmen O St. Regis Kanai Resort opened earlier this month on private property that includes at least three other luxury resorts.

Situated less than 800 meters from a preserved coral reef, the site is also a starting point for divers and has direct access to over 3 km of beach.

Built suspended over a mangrove, the new resort features a circular exterior design inspired by the Pleiades constellation and guarantees privileged views of the sea. The different sectors of the hotel are linked by elevated walkways.

The bold architecture and design were also inspired by Mayan artistic and ceremonial manifestations – the Mayan calendar is present in tapestries – and in sian ka’an a biosphere reserve that is one of the largest protected areas in the country.

The reserve is located around the property and is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Rooms and common areas

The St. Regis Kanai Resort has 124 rooms and 19 suites, all with ocean views, including the 200 square meter Presidential Suite.

All categories have a butler service and feature design elements reminiscent of mangrove trees, cenotes and starry skies.
