Five missiles hit the city of Lviv, in western Ukraine, on Monday (18), the city’s mayor said on social media.
“Relevant relief services have been dispatched to the scene of the explosions. We are clarifying the details of what happened,” Andrii Sadovyi wrote.
According to Lviv’s military governor, Maksym Kozytskyy, six people were killed and eight wounded in the attacks. Three missiles hit military infrastructure facilities, while another hit an automotive factory.
After the attacks, local authorities urged city residents to “seek shelter”.
Reuters teams in the capital Kiev and Dnipropetrovsk in southern Ukraine also reported explosions on Monday.
Despite the retreat of Russian forces in western Ukraine, Lviv and Kiev were targets of constant Russian attacks over the weekend. Kozytskyy reported that the region’s air defenses managed to shoot down some cruise missiles last Saturday (16).
