Lviv mayor urges air defense for Ukraine after Russian missiles hit city

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi called for Ukrainian air defense after a series of Russian missiles hit a fuel storage facility and a military infrastructure site in the western Ukrainian city on Saturday.

“We do not know the targets of the Russian missiles, which were launched from the city of Sevastopol today. And often today they reach not only Lviv, but also other places in our country.

We are all in the same situation, the sooner we have better quality weapons as well as air defense, the safer our cities and citizens, including you,” Sadovyi said at a press conference on Saturday night.

The sooner we have air defense in Ukraine, the sooner we will have victory,” he added.

Sadovyi closed the briefing by asking listeners to “go to the shelter immediately”, stressing that “we don’t know what will happen now”.

Earlier, the team CNN heard air raid sirens in the region. US President Joe Biden was in Warsaw, which is 400 kilometers from Lviv.
