PNY has announced the LX2030 and LX3030 solid state drives. According to the manufacturer, they are characterized by an “even higher level of endurance”, therefore they are well suited for Proof-of-space applications such as mining the Chia cryptocurrency, sometimes called “farming” to emphasize the difference from “mining” – mining based on the use of computing resource.

In tasks such as mining Chia, the initial stage, which is performed once, is write-intensive, so the SSD requires a lot of bandwidth and resource. Typically, only enterprise-class solid state drives have an adequate level of these indicators.

PNY LX drives are said to use Lifextension technology, which allows Chia Plotting resource ratings of up to 54,000 TBW (in the case of the LX3030 2TB drive). For a 1TB LX3030 drive, this parameter is 27,000, for a 2TB LX2030 drive, 10,000. A set of measures made it possible to achieve such high values, including drive management using AI algorithms, advanced error detection and correction tools, and so on.

M.2 2280 drives are PCIe Gen 3 x4. In the case of the LX3030, the read speed reaches 3200 MB / s, the write speed is 2400 MB / s. In the case of the LX2030, the maximum values are 3200 MB / s and 1000 MB / s, respectively. The source does not provide prices.
