M. Anderson: Possible Sweden-Finland-Turkey agreement ‘before Summit’

The dialogue between Sweden, Finland and Turkey can be successfully completed in the near future “ideally before the Summit”, said Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Anderson in joint statements with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

“This will allow the immediate start of the accession process of Sweden and Finland. And that would be good not only for both countries but for NATO and Europe’s security,” he added.

In addition, Ms Anderson said Sweden would contribute to the security of all, including Turkey, in a spirit of solidarity.

“We will adopt NATO ‘s approach to security. Sweden, as seen in the statement of 10 June, condemns terrorism in the strongest possible terms. We are fully committed to the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. As allies, we will “We are committed to NATO ‘s counter – terrorism policy and will play an active role in these efforts. Our stance on the PKK is very clear.

He also said that another issue raised by Turkey is Sweden’s response to extradition requests.

“These issues are being handled quickly and carefully by our judiciary and in accordance with the European Extradition Treaty. Sweden is not and will never be a safe haven for terrorism. The authorities are working hard to extradite people who could be extradited.” “They are a threat to security. There are many cases that are being considered at this time,” she said.
