M. Tentoglou: From amateur parkour to Gold Olympian

Miltos Tentoglou (23 years old)
BRANCH: Sports – Olympic Gold

Miltos Tentoglou won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo at the height, giving Greece its second gold in this event. He has also become the European Open Athletics Champion in 2018 in Berlin, the Indoor Athletics Champion in 2019 in Glasgow and the European Indoor Athletics Champion in 2021. In fact, the Medal he won in 2018 makes him the youngest Greek European Champion of all time.

He was born in Thessaloniki in 1998 and grew up in Grevena. Miltos was not one of the children who started sports at a young age. The track and field fell into his life completely by accident. At the age of 15, parking in the squares and in the municipal stadium of Grevena, an experienced coach saw him and realized his talent, recognizing his incredible agility. He suggested that he do some trials on the track and on the other in length. And so began Miltos’ journey to the track. He then collaborated with the distinguished fisheries coach, Giorgos Poaski, who remains his coach to this day.

Within two years, after hard work and dedication, at the age of 17 he set a Panhellenic record for Children and then raised the Panhellenic record for Teenagers. This was followed by the World Championship in Colombia, where he took the fifth place with the best jump at 7.66 µ., With Robert Eigian, the holder of the European record in Height at 8.86 µ. from May 22, 1987, to exclude the effort of the Greek athlete and, despite his fifth position, to rank him among the athletes who have the best prospects for Dellon.

In 2016, Miltos represented our country at the Rio Olympics, jumping to 7.64 µ, since then with great stability and consistency he remained undefeated in all European Championships of all categories of Open and Indoor.

Miltos Tentoglou, in addition to medals in top sports events, has won the sympathy of all with his humor, giving smiles to all those who attend his press conferences and public statements.
