M. Varvitsiotis: International Law is our ‘weapon’ against revisionism

“We do not fall into the trap of tension and polarization, but we leave nothing unanswered,” said Deputy Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis in an interview with the newspaper “Macedonia on Sunday”. As Mr. Varvitsiotis stressed, the internationalization of the Turkish provocation in combination with the strengthening of the deterrent power of the country and the international alliances are the pillars of our strategy. Crystallizing his message, he stressed that International Law is our “weapon” against revisionism.

Mr. Varvitsiotis said that Ankara was the one who violated the “red line” that the Prime Minister had set to the Turkish President, that the sovereignty of our islands could not be questioned and made it clear that the absurd, unhistorical and non-existent objections, expansive revisionism and ottoman fantasies have no place in the modern world.

The deputy minister also referred to the European Union’s attitude towards Turkish provocation and revisionism, to the successes of Greek diplomacy over the past three years, as well as to the “New Democracy autonomy strategy”.
