The placement of 804 engineers in the Municipal Building Services next May was announced by the Minister of Interior, Makis Voridis, citing information received from the ASEP, in response to a relevant topical question submitted by the MP of the “Movement for Change” Evangelia Liakoulis.
Mr. Voridis pointed out that the current Government is the only government that has hired engineers in the Building Services since 2010 when they were established by Mr. Ragousis, without however being staffed.
“How many engineers have been placed from 2010 to 2018? Zero. How many were hired during SYRIZA with 3K in 2018 in the Local Government? Thousands of people? How many engineers were hired? One” the Minister noted meaningfully, emphasizing that from 2020 to 2022 3932 engineers have been placed and employed in the Building Services of the Municipalities, stating that another percentage of the order of 23% will be added to the current employees.
He even announced that the percentage of satisfaction of the requests of the Municipalities to engineers that was included in the recruitment planning amounted to 73%.
“You are not interested in all this because you have chosen today to be a trade union representative of some engineers,” Mr Voridis told Liakoulis, adding that the unions recognize the government’s effort to hire engineers “demonstrating the political generosity that “You refused to show it today.”
In fact, responding to the Movement for Change’s request for more engineers, he noted that this is the “for 2” and “for 3” opposition that SYRIZA follows.
“We hear this from SYRIZA, now we have started to hear it from KINAL as well,” the minister noted characteristically.
Finally, Mr. Voridis clarified that the Ministry of Interior can not oblige any Municipality to set up Building Services, while informing that several Municipalities submit requests for preventive engineering to their Technical Services and not to the Building Services and announced an institutional intervention to recognize the condition.
“We are in consultation with all the Municipalities and the Technical Chamber for all these issues and within the next period of time our relevant legislative initiative will be manifested” he concluded.
