The Minister of Interior, Makis Voridis, paid a working visit to the offices of the Panathinaikos Federation of Associations of Professional Sellers of Popular Markets (POSPLA). According to an announcement by the federation, the visit is part of the dialogue between the two sides in view of the establishment of new legal entities that will manage the public markets in Attica and Central Macedonia.
“I have chosen during my political career to always be useful and not necessarily always likeable. When I am called to opt for a policy then I can very easily say no to something I will judge with rational arguments that it does not safeguard the interests of the people. We have met many times with Dimitris Mouliatos on the issue of the legal entity, so I have to admit that from the very beginning the president managed to convince me that the establishment and operation of the legal entity is necessary not only for the best development of the institution but because it made it clear to me that such a thing will strengthen to the maximum the thousands of consumers who daily choose the popular markets to procure the goods that they will put on their family table “, Mr. Voridis underlined, speaking to the presidents of the member unions of POSPLA and the members of the board of directors of the federation.
In fact, the minister set the schedule since, as he stated on Tuesday, June 21, the next meeting of the cabinet will take place, and he will inform in detail all members of the government and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis about the main pillars of the new bill that will determine the composition and operation of new legal entities. Then the final text of the bill will be forwarded to the competent bodies of the Greek parliament and after it is put to public consultation, the procedures for its voting will proceed.
The president of POSPLA, Dimitris Mouliatos, stressed that the struggle for the establishment of the new legal entity was and remains as important as the adoption of the new regulatory framework that upgrades and modernizes the popular markets.
