Macallan and Bentley expand the horizons of whiskey

Put Macallan and Bentley Motors together, push the accelerator and get a Single Malt Scotch Whiskey Luxury Premium band, produced by a distillery that has just made a round round century, and a luxury car company, famous for its excellence in the processing of precious materials such as wood and skin, as well as for W12 engines. On the one hand the artisan tradition, on the other, the most advanced engineering innovation. The result is The Macallan Horizona whiskey kept in a glass bottle, symbolic material for both brands, designed to be exposed horizontally and break the conventions of the classic vertical posture of the bottle. But also covered by a “dress” designed to keep it and embellish it.

The six Macallan pillars

Bottled at 46.6 °, homage to six exceptional European oak barrels and the six materials that characterize The Macallan and Bentley – whiskey, wood, copper, aluminum, leather and glass – and Six Pillars, Macallan Horizon is a testimony of the unwary artisan skill and the dedication shared to the excellence that characterizes the collaboration. The twist of the individual wooden strips is marked by copper profiles such as that of the famous small alembicians, in use before the opening of the new distillery in 2019. The aluminum of the coating is instead recovered from the production of the cars of the winged house such as Continental GT and Spur. While to protect the liquid in the crystal decanter, the interior of the custody is totally covered with prestigious skin such as the one that covers every single detail of Mulliner and Bentayga. The innovative design, with a twist of 180 degrees, reflects the horizontal trajectory, typical of the automotive world and embodies a futuristic approach, as well as respectful of the environment. A chest-sculpture inspired by the cars of the “winged house”

A real sculpture, covered in leather with low environmental impact, expertly processed in a chestnut hue, which elegantly finishes and protects the precious content. In the closure, a oak wood inlay, coming from one of the six barrels used for the maturation of the whiskey, inspired by the design of the rotating knob Bentley Drive Dynamic Control is set. The sculpture is finished with Bentley’s Crown Cut Cut Walnut veneer, one of the most distinctive specifications of its models.

Only 700 specimens in the world, evaluated about 50,000 euros each: a collector’s item.

Mastery with Kirsteen Campbell, the Master Whiskey Maker of The Macallan, the whiskey was born from the union of only six European oak barrels “First Fill” seasoned with Sherry, carefully selected. Every single specimen, because it is about this, is numbered, giving each bottle a unique, collectible value.
