Macron and Castex go for a coffee walk – Restaurants and shops reopen in France

Many of the restaurants and shops in France and President Emanuel Macron called on the French to continue to be vigilant.

The French television station BFM broadcast images of Macron and Prime Minister Jean Castex drinking coffee in the open air of a Parisian cafe, which BFM TV reported was located on Miromenil Street in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, near the Elysee Palace.

“The numbers are on track,” Macron told reporters as he drank his morning coffee outside a Parisian café.

The French are currently enjoying the first stage of the long-awaited lifting of restrictions after more than six months of living “on ice”, as broadcast by AMPE.

Despite the bad weather – rain and clouds in much of France – which is in danger of “undermining” the reopening of cafes and restaurants, there are many who are looking forward to returning to a partial normalcy, in a country that since March 2020 has recorded nearly 108,000 deaths from Covid.

The outdoor areas of cafes and restaurants are open to 50% of their reception facilities, with a maximum of 6 people per table and only until 21:00.

However, while the English, for example, can now dine indoors in restaurants and go to pubs from Monday, in France restaurant interiors will only reopen on June 9 at 50% of their capacity, but always with a maximum of 6 people at each table, while the curfew will start at 23:00. Restaurants and cafes will be able to reopen at 100% of their capacity on June 30.

However, as infections in France have been steadily slowing for the past four weeks, cinemas, theaters and museums can once again welcome the masked public with maximum capacity.

Toy stores and clothing stores, which have been severely tested by the health crisis, are also opening in moderation.
