French President Emmanuel Macron convened a meeting of the Defense Council tomorrow morning, for the third time since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began last Thursday.
Macron, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the European Union for the current six months, is stepping up his diplomatic efforts and contacts to find a solution to the crisis. Earlier in the day, he spoke by telephone with the leaders of India, Japan, Azerbaijan, Finland and Lithuania.
France is taking part in Western sanctions on Russia and intends to supply defense equipment to Ukraine. Speaking to Parliament, Armed Forces Minister Florence Parley announced that aid would be sent to the Baltic states as well as Romania.
