Developments in Ukraine and the issue of Sweden and Finland’s accession to NATO were the topics discussed today by the Presidents of France and Turkey, Macron and Erdogan.
According to the Elysee Field Palace, the telephone conversation lasted an hour and the two sides agreed on the urgency of the ceasefire and the implementation of international humanitarian law in Ukraine. They also agreed that it should be possible to export grain from Ukraine.
Regarding the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO, Emmanuel Macron stressed the need to respect the option of accession of the two countries, which was adopted through democratic procedures, and expressed the desire to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
