Macron expresses concern over impending Odessa attack in conversation with Putin

French President Emmanuel Macron voiced his concerns to Russian President Vladimir Putin during a telephone conversation on Sunday about a possible impending attack on the Ukrainian city of Odessa, according to a statement from Macron’s office.

Macron also stressed the importance of finding a solution through negotiations on the Ukrainian crisis and the protection of Ukraine’s nuclear facilities.

French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end Russian military operations in Ukraine and ensure the protection and security of Ukraine’s nuclear facilities, an official from Macron’s office said.

The French official confirmed that Macron had been on the phone with Putin for almost two hours on Sunday.

Putin said Sunday that his campaign in Ukraine was proceeding according to plan and would not be completed until Kyiv stopped fighting as efforts to evacuate 200,000 people from the heavily bombed city of Mariupol collapsed for a second day in a row.
