Macron is in favor of introducing international taxation on transactions, air tickets and sea transport

The president of France Emmanuel Macron advocated the establishment of one international taxation on financial transactions, air tickets and sea transportin order to finance the costs of tackling climate change and global poverty.

In an interview he gave today to the radio and television stations France info, RFI and France 24 and referring to the international meeting taking place in Paris with the aim of gradually creating a new global financial pact and with the participation of 50 countries and many Heads of State and Government, Macron emphasized the need for international coordination and mobilization, in the first phase through the International Monetary Fund (IMF), of the order of 100 billion euros with resources from both the public and private sectors.

The French president underlined that France is one of the few countries in the world that has imposed taxation in financial transactions, pointing out that all countries should impose taxes on airline tickets and that ways should be found through the International Maritime Organization to have some taxation on maritime transport, as reported by the Athens News Agency.
