Macron: Lepen is taking advantage of the anger that I could not calm down

LAST UPDATE: 11:06

Emanuel Macron, his candidate for re-election as president of France on Sunday, acknowledged today that he could not at least partially quell anger in the country and that his far-right opponent, Marine Le Pen, was trying to quell some of that anger in the run-up to the election. her campaign.

“And here it is. It is making some progress (…), it manages to take advantage of it,” Macron told France Inter radio.

Macron has maintained and possibly marginally increased his lead over Lepen after the televised confrontation, in which he is estimated to have prevailed, according to yesterday’s polls.

The French president also stressed that EU states should not allow a new iron curtain to be erected on the European continent, adding that it was important to take into account the differing views within the European bloc on Russia and the war in Ukraine.
